Whether you want to cool off by taking a swim in the danube or relaxing at a typical Viennese 'Heuriger' this week we’re sharing our favorite spots and places just in time for this summer’s first heatwave. So grab your sunglasses, apply some sunscreen, and let's embark on a journey to discover the best hot-weather hideaways Vienna has to offer!
The tastiest summer eateries
- Restaurant Atlantis
The Atlantis Fish restaurant is located on the ‘Kutschkermarkt’ in the center of the beautiful 18th district, serving freshly caught fish and seafood. Experienced chefs and a friendly team prepare the most exclusive seafood and appetizers of Mediterranean and international cuisine in a healthy and delicious way.
2. Madai Aperitivo Beisl
The Madai combines Aperitivo with ‚Beisl‘ (meaning an Austrian pub) and thus creates a wonderful oasis of well-being. Located directly on the Augarten, you can eat, drink and enjoy the sunny days here. The MADAI team works with seasonal products and cooks what the market around the corner has to offer.
3. Rondell am Cobenzl
Here you can enjoy classic Austrian cuisine with a modern international twist, a seasonal focus and a lot of attention to detail. Open from breakfast until dinner you can enjoy the extraordinary view over the city from morning till night.
Our tip: Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and go for a walk or if you’d like a quick dip, the ‘Krapfenwaldbad’ (more on this below) is just around the corner.
4. Hütte am Bellevue
Not far from the Rondell you will find an insider tip, the hut at Bellevue. Here you can enjoy the best wine in the midst of the vines every Sunday from 2 p.m. (note: only open in good weather). A wonderful place with an even better view to relax on the weekend!
5. Naschmarkt
Of course, the Naschmarkt is not to be missed - we love it not only because it is very close to the CONSCHES Studio and HQ, but especially because of its immense selection of various delicacies. From marinated olives to exotic fruit to hearty lunch menus. Everyone will find what they are looking for, and while strolling through the two market alleys, you will often be gifted with small delicious things.
Our favorite places by the water
- Neuwaldegger Bad
If you take the tram number 43 and get off at the last stop ‘Neuwaldegg’, you’ll reach the Neuwaldegg pool in just a few minutes. Here you can swim, relax and cool off under shady trees in an idyllic atmosphere at the edge of the forest.
- Krapfenwaldbad
If you're not only looking for a cool dip, but you're also a little hungry, you'll find it here. In addition to the great location in Döbling, the Krapfenwaldbad also offers the best fries - a combination that reminds us of our childhood and makes the bath even more attractive for us.
- Old Danube
Romawiese, Kaiserwasser or Arbeiter*innenstrandbad... all bathing places on the Old Danube that we can't miss in Vienna in the summer.
Our tip: If you want to combine cooling off with a little exercise, FLOTUS in Vienna is the right place. Here you can borrow SUPs (Stand Up Paddle) and paddle leisurely or sporty over the Alte Donau, sunbathe and enjoy our favorite season.
Summernights in Vienna:
We love pizza and one of our favorite places for neapolitan pizza is Disco Volante. Grab a pizza and some wine to go and make your way to the Burggarten for a little Pizza picnic through the 6th district. While you’re at it don’t forget to pay the CONSCHES studio a visit since we’re right around the corner from Burggarten!
Once it finally cools down a bit at night, Kino am Dach is a great way to spend you summer evenings. As soon as the sun sets, the roof of the library at Urban Loritz Platz turns into an outdoor movie theatre.
3. Sundowner @ Rooftopbar Libelle MQ
For a little Sundowner or After Work drink there’s many rooftop bars you can choose from in Vienna. However, one of our favorites is the bar on top of the Leopold Museum. You can have amazing city views while still in the center and enjoy your well-deserved drink after a busy day.
Let’s all enjoy summer the CONSCHES way!
